Chhaava created buzz in the theatres with strong Day 1 collection beats Sky force
With an outstanding debut, Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava has broken previous box office records. Sacnilk claims that the movie made ₹31 crore (nett) on its first day, which was Kaushal’s highest opening total to date. With 30.51% foot traffic in the morning, 34.50% in the afternoon, and a peak of 40.51% in the evening, Chhaava recorded an overall occupancy of 35.17% in Hindi.
Chhaava is now Vicky Kaushal’s highest first-day grosser, surpassing Uri: The Surgical Strike, which made ₹8.20 crore on its first day of release. It has also surpassed Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force, which made ₹15.30 crore on its debut, to become the highest opening of 2025.
The biopic “Chhaava” tells the story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s struggle for Swarajya against the Mughals. Vicky Kaushal portrays Sambhaji in the movie, and Rashmika Mandanna plays his wife, Yesubai. Reviews for the movie, which opens today, are already overwhelmingly positive, with many praising Vicky’s performance as her greatest to date. Since Sambhaji’s character was shown dancing lazily with Yesubai in the trailer, the movie was equally controversial, with many critics accusing it of being inaccurately depicted. This lazy dance scene has since been cut from the film by the producers.
